​ТОВАРИЩ! Vodka is the Original Russian produce and bottle in Russia. One formula, different names. In USA the vodka is called "Tobaritch", in Europe "Tovaritch", in Africa "Tovaritch Comrade" but in Russia, the motherland of the brand it keeps its original cyrillic name "ТОВАРИЩ!"

The secret of the brand is the selection of the raw materials, the distillation, the purity of the water and 300 years old receipe make Tobaritch! a unique brand. Tobaritch! vodka is rated at 40% degrees proof with respect to Russian law, and has no added flavouring, in line with the company’s philosophy, which relies on the originality and transparency of this Russian product.
Selection of Raw Materials

 

Tobaritch! vodka is made by distilling organic wheat.

The wheat selected by the company for vodka production is grown in the Volga river region, and the choice of grain to be used is already made during the very first stages of cultivation. The wheat must be of the very best quality in fact, and not GMO (no genetically modified organisms are allowed in Russia), and it must be distilled using a continuous process, without any pauses during fermentation. The stills to obtain the distillate are constantly supplied by the fermentation of wheat; and the heart of the distillate, the ethyl alcohol or ethanol, is drawn off without any interruption.

The type of alcohol used to produce Tobaritch, is obtained only from the fermentation of wheat, and confirms with the highest Russian standards for this category: LUX. In order to be certified as LUX, the alcohol obtained by distilling the wheat must have a percentage alcohol content of at least 96%. Tobaritch reaches 96.6%.

Another very important factor which determines the authenticity of Tobaritch! Russian vodka  is the choice of water to be mixed with the alcohol: pure spring water, drawn from artesian wells belonging to the Tobaritch distillery.

What distinguishes the production of Tobaritch! vodka from other leading brands of vodka on sale is the fact that the water is NOT demineralised, since it has been drawn from naturally uncontaminated land. Therefore there is no need for aggressive processes before it can be used in the alcohol mixture, as simple filtration is enough.

The water has already been subjected to a preliminary filtration stage when drawn off; a process aimed to prevent minerals from forming residues, and to eliminate any impurities, while conserving the characteristic flavours of the natural minerals (as it hasn’t been demineralised).

In this way all the substances and mineral salts contained in the water are preserved, therefore guaranteeing the certain authenticity of the product: 100% Russian vodka– 100% authentic vodka. A further two filtration processes follow the first.

The second process takes place by using carbon filters made from beech wood to eliminate any impurities, as well as to accentuate the flavours of the natural minerals that have already been preserved. The product is then purified a third time, to eliminate any oily substances,  with the aim of making the alcoholic drink much more genuine, giving it a refined taste.

Distillation and Filtration

 

The Tobaritch! vodka distilleries, Itar, Rodnik, Niva & Ladoga & Tigoda in the St.Petersburg region use continuous stills, which can distil and rectify the same solution, derived from the fermentation of wheat, several times, making it possible for a pure distillate to be obtained without any interruptions in the process.

Potable alcohol incoming to OAO “Industrial group “Ladoga” for the production of “Tobaritch!” vodka is produced in the area from bread grain (wheat, rye) distilled five times.

The main  method of alcohol purification of impurities is its rectification on a rectification installation consisting of 4 (four) copper columns. This proven method is distinguished by high and ensures high quality of the final product.

The production method makes use of different distillation columns and lasts for 32 hours. Following this period of 32 hours, the distillate is then blended for another 24 hours with the water, before passing through the final filtration processes.

What makes Tobaritch! really unique is the accurate mixing of ethanol and water. If it is born in mind that 56% of the final product comes from water, it is easy to understand the reason why such attention is paid to the selection of the raw materials, and their treatment.

The addition of water to the distillate serves to reduce the level of alcohol, and the mixture then undergoes a very slow, complex filtration process.

The aim of this is to eliminate any impurities, in this way leaving the alcohol and water as the only ingredients in the liquid; the slower are the various filtration processes, the more the purity of the final product can be guaranteed.

One of the key elements to guarantee the purity and transparency of Tobaritch! is the water we use. This exceptional water is found in the same areas as our distilleries, and already undergoes its preliminary filtration when it is drawn off. The pure water is in fact filtered through the layer of soil lying between it and the land surface, and this first filtration serves to prevent the minerals from forming visible residues at the bottom of the bottle.

Before the water is mixed with alcohol, it is once more filtered and purified in nearby distilleries, using 20 carbon filters made from beech wood, in order to eliminate any impurities, and accentuate the flavour of the natural minerals. The product is then purified a third time, eliminating any oily compounds, to make the alcoholic drink much more genuine and refined to the taste. The careful selection of raw materials (only the purest water, and best quality wheat from the Volga regions), is accompanied by production processes which are carefully controlled at every stage to guarantee the originality of this Premium product.

At the end, Tovaritch! is subjected to 3 filtration stages, using:

  • columns of sand;

  • columns of carbon;

  • columns of silver and titanium;

Silver and titanium have antiseptic properties and are therefore ideal materials for filters, guaranteeing the elimination of any residues to maintain the product’s purity.
